Ansell Grimm & Aaron Wins Criminal Defense Appeal Filed by State of New Jersey in Case Against Dr. Howard Katz of Colts Neck

Ocean, New Jersey (February 25, 2020) —The Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division yesterday released its decision in the matter of State of New Jersey v. Frank Campione and Howard Katz. Robert A. Honecker, Jr., a partner in Ansell Grimm & Aaron’s Criminal Defense Department, who represented Dr. Howard Katz, announced that the State’s appeal against his client has been dismissed with prejudice.

The State had appealed the dismissal of an indictment charging Frank Campione, a physician’s assistant, and Doctor Katz with conspiracy to unlawfully practice medicine and three counts of the unlawful practice of medicine. Judge Dennis O’Brien dismissed the indictment in November 2018.

According to the Court’s opinion, “The State presented no evidence to the grand jury that Katz participated in Campione’s alleged act of improperly holding himself out as a physician to patients,” among other things.

Criminal defense attorney Honecker said, “My client, Dr. Howard Katz, a medical provider in Colts Neck, New Jersey, was wrongly accused by the State of New Jersey. The Court’s decision in this matter sets the record straight and exonerates my client of all accusations.”

Honecker is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Criminal Trial Attorney and specializes in criminal and municipal court defense. A former First Assistant Prosecutor and Acting Prosecutor for Monmouth County, Honecker is a Past President of the Monmouth County Bar Association.
